[Narration: It turned out that the Turks hadn't destroyed AVALANCHE after all. They'd lain low, quietly reorganizing their ranks. Now they occupied the Corel reactor, which was still under construction. It is here that fierce conflict between AVALANCHE and the Turks would resume anew.]

A'right. No problems with this cart either. I'm done inspecting the carts. We can start diggin' when everyone gets here. (1)

Guess I got no choice if it's for the reactor. Everyone in the village's lookin' forward to having it get built. I guess you can say we're holding our hopes on it.  I'd like to see it get done quickly. The construction's just about done. Maybe once it gets up and running, our lives'll be easier. We're living in a Mako age, and we've gotta go where the train's heading. 

Whoa, sorry about that. Heh, it looks like you and me will get along just fine.

Player

Yeah. I was in a rush. Sorry.

Player

Are you by any chance one of the townspeople? I just have to keep going straight this way to get to the Mako reactor, right?

???

Yeah. But you can't get near the reactor today. Looks like they're doing some final construction work 'round there.

Player

That doesn't sound right. You've been fooled. (Pause) …… um… so.

???

What did you say?! They're trying to stop the construction?!

Player

That's right.

???

Damn it, they're not getting away with this.

Player

I've come to deal with the problem.

???

Thanks. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help. I'll do it in a heartbeat!

Player

I want to get to the reactor without being noticed. Is there a way I can do that?

???

Player

The name's Barret. All right. It's this way.

Player

Is this… the coal mine?

???

That's right. Corel's a coal mining village. I dug all this. The tunnels wind around like ant caves. It's a little out of the way, but if we use these paths, we can get right up close to the reactor.

Whoa! The hell is that?! When the hell did that get here?!

Player

A gatling gun. This place has already been occupied. Getting through here's going to be difficult.

Barret

No problem. I've got an idea. Follow me.

We're gonna use this!

Player

A mining cart?

Barret

We'll use this to knock 'em outta our way.

Player

I can't move this thing.

Barret

Don't worry about it. I'm going to move it. Just get behind the cart and push the [action key]. (3)

See? This'll work just fine.

Player

(Thought) I'll try pushing switching this lever here.

Barret

Those bastards! Think they can just waltz around our mine like they own the place. They're not gonna be struttin' for long. (To you) Switch over that rail on the far side.

We can get out of the mines this way. Then we'll be right outside of the reactor.

Player

Thanks very much. You've been a great help.

[You scream]

Player

I'm… not hurt.

Barret

Player

Barret!

Hurry… go… I don't know how long I can hold on…

Player

Thank you. Just leave everything to me, Barret. I'll get the reactor back for you.

Barret

All right, Rosalind… the future of Corel's in your hands. Get that reactor back no matter what!

Things have gotten serious. Take the secret emergency countermeasures. The Shin-Ra Company isn't going to fall to some impudent whelp! Do what you have to in order to guard the company!

(Thought) That's the entrance to the mako reactor.

Player

(Thought) Security sure is tight. I wonder if everybody's all right… Anyway, I should hurry. I've got to recover the reactor no matter what happens.

Player

(Thought) If I press that switch, the tracks will connect. If I lead the AVALANCHE men around I could get there no problem.

Player

(Thought) It looks like I can take the upper track or the lower. It might be out of my way, but I can definitely cross over.

Player

(Thought) Let's go.

AVALANCHE

Who's there?!

AVALANCHE B

An intruder!

Player

(Thought) Looks like I made it. The next step is getting inside the reactor. Barret's counting on this reactor going up. That's why he helped me back there. I've got to liberate the reactor for Barret no matter what.

AVALANCHE

You – The Turks?! Damn it. I'm not letting you get by here.

(Thought) What's going on? It looks like nobody's inside. And there was all that security outside, too…

These are orders directly from the President: Capture Vice President Rufus bring him back to headquarters, where he will be confined.

Player

(Thought) He's going to be placed under house arrest?!

Rufus

Hmph. Veld, have you forgotten the current situation here?

Player

(Gasp) Up?! (Looks up)

That is correct. We are occupying this reactor.

Player

Fuhito! So you were alive!

Rufus

Hmph. It looks like the tables have turned. Fuhito, kill them.

We're completely surrounded.

We're in the frying pan like this, boys.

Rufus

I didn't authorize the occupation of this mako reactor. AVALANCHE has broken our agreement. Normally I would be forced to take harsh action, but now that you're here, things have changed. (To Fuhito) If you kill the Turks, I'll consider the matter dropped.

Veld

Ugh.

Hee hee hee. I'm afraid I shall have to refuse.

Rufus

What? So you would betray me? I'll cut off your financial support.

Rufus

Rufus

Ugh. (Thought) What a disgrace, this treatment. What is that old man trying to say? That I'll never surpass him?

Veld

And sir, if nothing else, remember this: the President has been willing to overlook your indiscretions up to now. This time is no different. There is no parent who does not desire the happiness of their children.

Rufus

The rest is up to you, Tseng.

Veld

The Turks are in your hands now.

Tseng

Yes, sir! Thank you for everything you've done for us up to now. I won't let you down. We'll work this out!

Rufus

You should all get moving. Fuhito plans to blow this place up.

Reno

(To Rufus) Sir, this way.

Player

(Gasps) AVALANCHE soldiers!!

Rosalind, hurry!

Player
