Final Fantasy VII: Before Crisis - Materia
Filed Under: Final Fantasy VII: Before CrisisBasics:Materia becomes mastered at Level 9 in Before Crisis. Once it has reached this level, it cannot get any stronger. Summon materia can be made by combining cetain amounts of one type of materia with an amount of another type of materia. Also different grades of materia like Bio, Biora etc, are not the same piece of materia, you can have a piece of Bio and a piece of Biora, once Bio is mastered it isn't morphed into Biora.Levelling Up:Materia levels up the more you use it, the best bet is to keep it slotted into your armor and weapon at all times, so it definitely levels. Like Final Fantasy VII, Ap causes Materia to level up, each piece of materia and its grade requires a certain amount of AP to level, so defeat lots of enemies, keep battling. When materia is slotted into a weapon, it inst necessarily needed to be used in a battle, for example, if you equip fire to a weapon, it could give the weapon a fire element. This then when it hits an enemy, will give your materia AP. Equipping Materia:When equipping materia to your armour or weapon, it will have its various effects like Final Fantasy VII. As most weapons in Before Crisis are non-elemental, it is necessary to equip materia of an element to make the weapon elemental. A materia at level one, has a small percentage of giving the weapon that particular element. For example placing a low level Comet Materia in your weapon will at first produce about a 10-20% chance of the attack carrying the Comet element. As your Materia levels up, the percentage of your attacks that will take on that element will increase. A materia at level 9 has a much larger percentage of giving the weapon an element; in this case it is 100 percent of the time. It is a good idea to experiment with different Materia and see the effects they will have on your enemies.Using And Making MateriaTo start off, select the Materia option in the main menu. From the resulting submenu, select the "Create Materia" option. To your surprise this will activate the camera on your phone, rest assured, this is just the rather clever materia system at work. The game will analyse the image produced by the camera and from determining the more dominant colour in the image, a relevant materia will be produced (e.g. taking a picture of a red image, will create a fire materia.Once you have finished creating your materia it will be stored in your inventory. Your rank and performance throughout the game will determine how many you can keep in there. As in FF7, the materia will level up whilst in use, and generally you will be able to equip to weapons and armour is 3, two for armour and one for weapons. The number of times your materia is used as well as where you slotted it will have an effect on its growth rate. Summons are available in this game too, but not as you know it. There are no specific summon materia, instead you will need to use three top-grade materia (i.e. Curaga, Firaga and Thundaga) to create a summon like effect. As you increase in rank in the Turks, you will be able to store increasing ammounts of materia. Also the option to produce higher grade materia will become available. Using several top-grade materia at the same time will produce a summon. |
