When a chapter/episode is complete, you will be able to unlock a character; another player you can use. When you select that player to use, you will need to exchange 1000 rank points. When doing this, be careful as to who you choose, read up on the next mission and see who will be a benefit to the mission objectives. You don't want to go throwing away rank points.

Character RP needed to exchange Condition to Appear on Menu List.
Player A (Female) 1000 RP Initially on the List
Player B (Male-rod) 1000 RP Initially on the List
Player C (Shotgun) 1000 RP Initially on the List
Player D (Male-two Guns) 1000 RP Initially on the List
Player E  (Female - Boxer) 1000 RP When 7th chapter episode is cleared., becomes available
Player F  (Male - Boxer) 1000 RP When 9th chapter episode is cleared, becomes available
Player H (Male - Katana) 1000 RP When 18th chapter episode is cleared, becomes available
Player G (Female - Shruiken) 1000 RP When 18th chapter episode is cleared, becomes available
