Limit breaks are special attacks that that allows a character to release energy in there own way. Every character has there own unique limit breaks, that will do different things, Example; Aeris' Limit breaks are all based on helping the team either healing them or giving them special statuses, whereas all of clouds Limit Breaks are purely basic on inflicting physical damage to the enemy.

Cloud Strife's Limit Breaks

Level 1 Limit Breaks

Braver Cloud leaps in the air and chops an enemy in two. This tends to be a little stronger than cross slash.
Cross-Slash Cloud attacks an enemy with several slashes which sometimes causes paralysis but only to weaker enemies.

Level 2 Limit Breaks

Blade Beam Cloud sends a wave of energy from his sword which clashes into one opponent. The rest then separates out into smaller waves which attack the rest.
Climhazzard Cloud skewers one enemy with his sword and then leaps up into the air, ripping it out.

Level 3 Limit Breaks

Meteorain Cloud jumps up I the air and pulls a Sephiroth on your opponents by slamming four meteors into them.
Finishing Touch Cloud creates a whirlwind which either sucks opponents straight from the battle or sends them plummeting back to the ground, causing damage. This works better on many opponents and is wasted on bosses.

Level 4 Limit Breaks

Omnislash Cloud attacks all opponents many times over with his sword.

How To obtain Level 4 Limit Break:

32000 points at the battle arena. DO NOT LEAVE UNLESS YOU WANT TO LOSE ALL YOUR POINTS. Exchange for limit break.


Barret Wallace's Limit Breaks

Level 1 Limit Breaks

Big Shot A big ball of energy gathers on his gun, which he then fires at an opponent.
Mindblow Same as above, but takes of MP instead of HP.

Level 2 Limit Breaks

Grenade Bomb Launches a grenade at your opponents.
Hammer Blow Knocks at enemy out of battle with a single punch. This limit is useless in boss fights as it doesn’t cause any direct damage.

Level 3 Limit Breaks

Satellite Beam Uses a satellite to attack a group of enemies. This is less useful against a single enemy.
Ungermax Shots the enemies lots of times and works better than satellite beam in general

Level 4 Limit Breaks

Catastrophe Hovers over your enemies and burns them with a load of plasma.

How To obtain Level 4 Limit Break:

Revisit North Corel after meteor has been summoned and see the lady in the middle house on the west side of the town. She will give Cloud the Catastrophe.


Tifa Lockheart's Limit Breaks

Level 1 Limit Breaks

Beat Rush This is just a little combo
Somersault Hits the target right under the chin with a cool flip-kick

Level 2 Limit Breaks

Waterkick A low spin-kick with a water element
Meteodrive She picks up her enemy and does a backdrop. How funny would that look on emerald weapon?

Level 3 Limit Breaks

Dolphin Blow As if from no-where a dolphin appears and does a dolphin uppercut. (water element)
Meteostrike Tifa picks up the opponent, jumps up in the air and then slams them down hard on the floor.

Level 4 Limit Breaks

Final Heaven A load of energy if focused on her fist which she then uses to punch her opponent

How To obtain Level 4 Limit Break:

After reaching Nibleheim in disc 1 take Tifa to her house and play the melody. Then return in disc 3 and play the tune again. Tifa will find her limit break under a sheet of paper. The tune is: X, square, triangle, R1/L1+triangle, R1/L1+square, X, square, triangle, R1/L1+X, circle, X, square, X.


Aeris Gainsborough's Limit Breaks

Level 1 Limit Breaks

Healing Wind Restores some of the party’s HP
Seal Evil Castes Silence and Stop on all enemies

Level 2 Limit Breaks

Breath of Earth Restores Hp and removes abnormal statuses.
Fury Brand Uses her own limit break to give the rest of the characters theirs.

Level 3 Limit Breaks

Planet Protector Puts a temporary barrier around all allies, making them invulnerable for a short while.
Pulse Of Life Restores HP and MP and cures all negative status

Level 4 Limit Breaks

Great Gospel The party makes a complete recovery and is made temporarily invulnerable.

How To obtain Level 4 Limit Break:

Speak with the sleeping man near Junon when you have fought a number of battles where the last two digits are the same. He will give you a piece of Mythril which, in turn, can be exchanged for Great Gospel with the weapon seller that resides near Kalm. It's in a small box up the stairs.


Yuffie Kisaragi's Limit Breaks

Level 1 Limit Breaks

Greased Lightning Attacks a single enemy, causing a small amount of damage.
Clear Tranquil A blue ball of light surrounds each ally and restores a small amount of HP.

Level 2 Limit Breaks

Landscaper She causes a tremor underneath your opponents and cause damage to a group of enemies.
Bloodfest Attacks a group with about ten hits.

Level 3 Limit Breaks

Gauntlet Summons a vortex underneath her opponents.
Doom of the living Kind of like the bloodfest one, except much more damage is inflicted and can be used better against a single enemy.

Level 4 Limit Breaks

All Creation She uses a huge beam of light to attack her opponents.

How To obtain Level 4 Limit Break:

Defeat Godo at the top of the Pagoda of the Five mighty Gods in Wutai.


Cid Highwind's Limit Breaks

Level 1 Limit Breaks

Boost Jump He leaps up into the air and lands on the enemy with his spear.
Dynamite Produces a stick of dynamite, lights it on his cigarette and throws it at a group of enemies.

Level 2 Limit Breaks

Hyper Jump Leaps into the air and drives his spear into the ground, causing a big explosion which hurts a group of enemies.
Dragon He summons a dragon which attacks one enemy, and gives HP and MP to Cid. The boost it gives you isn’t anything to write home about though.

Level 3 Limit Breaks

Dragon Dive Kind of like boost jump, except it only hits one opponent and hits many times.
Big Brawl He leaps into a group of enemies and attacks them.

Level 4 Limit Breaks

Highwind The Highwind is summoned and unleashes a barrage of attacks on a group of enemies.

How To obtain Level 4 Limit Break:

After getting the submarine go to the crashed plane. You'll find it in the cargo bay.


Red XIII's Limit Breaks

Level 1 Limit Breaks

Sled Fang Charges though an opponent, taking off HP
Lunatic High Castes haste on all your party

Level 2 Limit Breaks

Blood Fang Like sled fang, except more powerful and some MP is transferred to red afterward.
Stardust Ray a cluster of stars fall over the opponents and cause damage to a group of enemies.

Level 3 Limit Breaks

Howling Moon Casts berserk and haste on Nanaki, which has it‘s disadvantages.
Earth Rave Attacks a group of enemies with five elemental attacks.

Level 4 Limit Breaks

Cosmo Memory Blasts the opponents with a ray of plasma.

How To obtain Level 4 Limit Break:

Defeat Lost Number in Nibelheim in the Shinra Mansion. This requires opening the safe on the second floor of the house. Find the combination using the clues provided, or just turn right to 36, left to 10, right to 59, right to 97 to open it. Press OK on each number, and make sure you don't overshoot. Defeat the boss that comes out, and you'll win the Limit.


Vincent Valentine's Limit Breaks

Level 1 Limit Breaks

Beast Flare Little fire orbs are fired at a group of enemies.
Berserk Dance Does a little combo on one enemy.

Level 2 Limit Breaks

Gigadunk He turns into something that looks like Frankenstein which is slightly more powerful and has lightning attacks. He punches a single opponent.
Livewire Attacks every enemy with and electrical charge.

Level 3 Limit Breaks

Spatter Combo Turns into a chainsaw-wielding maniac. Attacks an enemy fives times with the chainsaw.
Nightmare Hits an enemy with a number of status effects which include silence, sleep, confusion, frog and mini.

Level 4 Limit Breaks

Chaos Saber He turns into a demon with wings. Works like slash-all, but doesn’t rely on his weapon to determine damage.
Satan Slam A big skull comes out of the ground and kills all enemies. If this doesn’t work, they are hit with flaming skulls instead.

How To obtain Level 4 Limit Break:

After requiring the submarine or the gold Chocobo go to Lucrecia's cave, which is located behind a waterfall at a lagoon in the Nibel area. Visit the cave in disc 2 and 3 to require the limit break.


Cait Sith's Limit Breaks

Level 1 Limit Breaks

Dice He throws some dice on the floor which causes more damage as his levels increase.

Level 2 Limit Breaks

Slots Kind of like Tifa’s limit break, but with more weird outcomes. E.g.: Mog dance (3 stars) - restores HP, MP and status.
Toy soldier (3 kings) Some toy soldiers appear and attack your enemies.
Summon (3 bars) Uses a random summon.
Transform (3 mogs) Turns into a large version of himself and the rest of the team disappear, returning at the end of the battle.
Lucky girl (3 hearts) Makes the hit percentage 100 for each party member.
Death to all (2 Cait Sith one bar) Everyone dies.
Instant victory (3 Cait Sith) Your opponents die. How useful would this be against emerald weapon?
